A February Full of Spay Day Events!

Feb. 23 is Spay Day, designated by the Humane Society to encourage people to save animals’ lives through spay/neuter.  OAR has several events and promotions all month:

• Staff and volunteers will be at Fountain Square on Feb. 3 to publicize the OAR clinic. (This is a date change from January’s newsletter.) More information...
• OAR cats and volunteers will be in the Aronoff Center lobby Feb. 5 for the opening  of “Cats.” Pick up information, make a donation and think about turning shelter life into just a “memory” for one of our residents. Tickets ($22.50-$57.50) are available at BroadwayAcrossAmerica.com/Cincinnati; downtown at the Aronoff box office or the Broadway Across America box office at the Mercantile Center; or at 800-982-2787.
• From Feb. 5-8, the clinic is offering half-price ($25) surgeries.  Bring in pet, stray or feral cats, or make a donation to sponsor a surgery during the February Feline Frenzy. More information...
• Feb. 19th is the My Furry Valentine Open House. Vote for king and queen of the rescue, and enter the raffle. More information...
• Enter a picture of your pet or vote for other friends of OAR in the Humane Society’s Spay Day Photo Contest.  Link to web site article A vote is $1, and every donation in OAR’s name will help us spay and neuter more cats. The more votes, the better our chance at extra prizes. More information...

A’CAT’emy Awards Fundraiser / March 7th at Nada

Nada restaurant, downtown, will be the site of OAR’s first a’CAT’emy Awards Extravaganza, 7:30-11:30 March 7th. For reservations ($50) to this celebration of film and felines, e-mail events@ohioalleycat.org or call Lauren, 513-675-0628, by March 1st.

Bernadette Has an Office... But Needs a Home.

Bernadette has been at OAR since May and is on her third name. First Celeste, then Guacamole, and now Bernadette -- we're willing to call her anything to help her find a home.  She's a petite brown tabby with white highlights, and she currently lives in the office of clinic director Elaine Sloan.  She can frequently be found in a box on the office shelf or checking out the clinic lobby after hours.  She also likes to help on the computer.  If she thinks she is in trouble, she scoots back to the safety of the office.  She's a favorite of the staff, and we'd love to see this quirky and entertaining kitty in a home.
