BMW Raffle / July 4th Deadline!

The deadline (and drawing) is fast approaching! Only 250 raffle tickets will be sold for this beautiful classic 1975 BMW R90. (Currently we have sold about 130 tickets.) The bike currently resides in the garage of its second owner, who purchased it in
1979. The bike has the original tank and seat, along with a full
faring, long handle bars and the necessary cables to make that setup
work. The bike has been gently handled and well maintained.
Get additional details about the bike and the raffle.
Tickets are $50 and are available from George Jonson. For a ticket or additional information about the bike, please contact George at gjonson@mrjlaw.com or (513) 768-5220.
Next OAR Clinic Date / July 11th
Every day during the spring and summer, the phone in the rescue rings incessantly as people desperately try to find a place that will take the kittens born to their pet or that they have found. Please help us stop the reproductive cycle that leads to so many unwanted kittens - get your pet and the homeless cats in your neighborhood spayed or neutered.
The next OAR clinic will be held on Saturday July 11. We still have ten appointments available. Cats are dropped off on Saturday morning between 8:00 and 8:30 and picked up the following morning between 9:00 and noon.
The cost of the surgery is $45 for a male or female. Kittens can be fixed at about 8 weeks of age if they weigh at least 2.2 pounds.
We also offer vaccines, microchipping, and parasite treatment at the time of surgery.
Please call 513.871.0185 if you have any questions about clinic services or would like to make an appointment for your cat.
July's Cat of the Month / Gabby
Gabby isn't really that old in comparison to some other OAR residents, but she just keeps getting overlooked. She is 3 years old and came to us when her pregnant mom was left at the rescue door. Gabby is a striking dark calico. Everyone who passes her room remarks on her unique looks. As a kitten, she was a little standoffish so she missed her prime adoption period. She has gradually become a sociable little cat who greets visitors at the door. She gets along well with other cats too! We'd love to see Gabby in a home by the fall.
If you or a friend are interested in meeting Gabby (or any of our other residents), please fill out an adoption questionnaire.

Kittens! Kittens! Kittens!
As anyone who works with cats knows, the sunshine and flowers of spring and summer also brings kitten season. Kittens are adorable and precious, but there are also a lot of them! OAR currently has over 20 kittens available for adoption. In order to continue to help those still in colonies, we need to find homes for our current crop. Please pass the word to anyone you know who might be looking for an addition to the home. Our sidebar features three of the kittens, but we have many others. Potential adopters should fill out an adoption questionnaire and our adoption coordinator will contact them to talk about the adoption.
Garage Sale A Success!
Despite being savaged by a monsoon on Thursday night and a blazing sun the rest of the weekend, chairwoman Beth Muccillo and her many volunteers made the 2009 OAR Garage Sale a huge success! We made $9500 for the cats, surpassing last year's record. Proceeds from the garage sale are earmarked for rescue operating expenses. We have 2 1/2 semis loaded with the leftovers to donate to two other rescues that are having a sale the end of July, so even more animals will be helped.
Special thanks to Beth, whose incredible organizational skills make it all look easy and belie the fact that she has been acquiring, storing, and pricing items for months. Beth and husband Dolf sacrifice their garage for storage for months and as soon as the garage sale is over, they start filling it again with items for the winter eBay auction!
We are also grateful to Steve Jonson, who picked up donations throughout the tri-state area to assure that we had as many treasures for sale as possible. Steve slept at the building to protect the items once the sale was set up. So as not to waste his time, he also trapped some ferals in the parking lot - they have now been TNR'd. Now THAT'S dedication to OAR!
Thanks so much to everyone who donated, volunteered, baked, priced, set up, shopped, and packed up again. We could never have done it without your help!
