Isaac's Fund

Isaac is from the site in Price Hill where Sister Eileen has been doing TNR. OAR has helped with getting a number of kitties there fixed, along with vet care. The woman who feeds the feral cats on her back porch said Isaac just showed up one day a couple of weeks ago, skinny, dirty, and limping badly.

Sister Eileen found out about him when she went to deliver food on her lunch hour. The woman was crying when she got there and Isaac was hanging out on her back porch. Sister Eileen rushed him to her vet that same afternoon. Xrays confirmed that every bone in his left front paw is broken. The vet couldn't say for sure what happened, but suspected he may have gotten his paw caught in something and broke it when he pulled loose.

She splinted Isaac's leg and referred him to Dr. Steve Shrader, an orthopedic surgeon at the CARE Center. He examined Isaac and agreed surgery is necessary to realign the bones and allow proper healing. He'll likely need to insert a pin for this to happen. He estimates Isaac will need 4 weeks to recover in a cast and says his prognosis his excellent. Isaac's initial vet bill was $266 (includes his neuter). He's also been vaccinated and tested negative for FeLV and FIV.

His office visit and surgery will be approximately $1,287 (this could change depending on exactly what Dr. Shrader needs to do). He'll also need some follow up care (office visits and pain meds), but not sure of the cost on this yet. Isaac is approximately 8-months-old, very friendly, loving and has been a real trooper throughout his ordeal. His nickname at Pleasant Ridge Pet Hospital is "Lover Boy".

He'll be available for adoption after he has recovered from his surgery.
